Mumbai: Actress Tanushree Dutta isn't a voracious reader but reads when she finds the time. "My favourite book is The Kite Runner by Khalid Hosseini. The most hard-hitting passage is when the protagonist and his best friend are walking through an alley and a bunch of boys attack them. The friend stands up to the boys and they attack him brutally," she says adding "You don't expect such violence, that's why it's impactful."

What she likes most about the book is the fact that the hero's character has flaws unlike most fiction books which portray the hero to be self righteous. Also the fact that he gets a chance to redeem himself makes him very much like a boy next door.

Tanushree has even seen the movie by the same name but the film didn't have as much of an impact on her as the book did. History being her favourite subject in school, she loves war films because they draw on historical facts.

Her all-time favourite film is Pearl Harbor which Tanushree saw seven times (three on television and four times on DVD). She recalls precisely. "I am a major movie buff and love watching war movies. Pearl Harbor is set against a World War II backdrop but there's also a romantic angle to it where the lady is torn between two lovers -- one of whom she thinks is dead -- and so she moves on with her life, only to have him return from the war alive!"

The most impactful scene from the film which remained with her long after was where the army guys are sleeping inside the camp and at precisely that moment the Japanese decide to bomb the ships. "I got goose bumps when I first saw it," she ends.
