Rohit Jugraj got many people interested when he told them that he's making a movie. However, when he told his distributors that his movie is based on child sexual abuse, everyone backed off.
"The film (Is Soot Ki Dor Lambi Hain) is lying in the cans for more than one year now and I have decided not try and sell it again. I have taken this film to international film festivals and I am happy with the awards and recognition it has got," says the director.
According to Rohit, his distributors in India rejected the film outright because they felt that it is 'too bold for Indian sensibilities'. "The film dwells on the childhood of a man and how he was repeatedly sexually abused when he didn't even understand what was happening to him. The film was appreciated at international film festivals like Locarno and Toronto. But back in India it drew a null," the director continues.
The 30-minute docu-film has been filmed in a format called 'dogme' where nine cameras were used to shoot it.
Rohit's next film is about the bonding of three girls but he strongly denies that it is a chick flick. "This is not any version of Charlie's Angels and neither it will it be a girl movie. I am doing this film for Abbas-Mustan."
Rohit says he has signed Prachi Desai as one of the girls. He will be introducing a new girl along with a bigger star as the other two girls.
"All I can tell you now is that it will be a thriller. The film should go on the floors by the end of this year," he signs off.
