Mumbai: It makes one wonder how this man is still such a bundle of energy. When we entered Dev Anand's office, he was having a fresh round of meeting with the music directors of his forthcoming film Chargesheet.
"I have been working like this since 1949 when Navketan came into being. Each film brings about the same excitement that it used to bring 60 years ago. I am as equally excited about introducing a new girl in Chargesheet as I was when I introduced Zeenat (Aman) and Tina (Ambani)," says the legendary actor.
"The post-production of my film is almost complete. But I don't want to reveal its look yet. As usual I will introduce new faces as my lead pair. Even the music directors will be new. I still remember my days as a struggler when I look at these faces. Sadly, most people don't think of giving these youngstersa chance," he adds.
Even though rumours have it that the male lead of the film is cricketer Sandeep Patil's son, Dev Anand is in no mood to talk about it.
"I can tell you that I have spent Rs 1 crore just to shoot a song. This will be one of my most expensive films to date. I have realised that a film has to look good no matter how good the script is," he says.
Meanwhile, we prod him about the famous Anand Studios where almost 300 films have been made so far. What happens to it now that the building is being broken down?
"The studio will be bigger and better. We will import new machines. This studio is my baby and I will never let it go. In fact, when the new building springs up in 14 months, there will be certain facilities available (such as digital sound recording) here at such an affordable cost that is not available anywhere in the city," he ends.
Cricketer Sandeep Patil's son Chirag Patil reportedly makes his debut in this film which is a suspense-thriller shot in Mahabaleshwar, Mumbai and Dubai. The film revolves around a retired CBI officer played by Dev Anand. Jackie Shroff is the villain. Divya Dutta and Riya Sen are also part of the cast.
