New Delhi: Actor-turned politician Shatrughan Sinha has said Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan went to his birthplace Allahabad after 30 years to fight elections while he goes to his native place Patna from where he is contesting the Lok Sabha polls on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket many times a year.

"When he (Bachchan) fought the elections, he went to his birthplace Allahabad after 30 years and I go to my birthplace, Patna 30 times in a year," Sinha said in a talk show on Zee News when compared to other big stars who had entered politics and made a mark for themselves.

Bachchan had won the Lok Sabha election from Allahabad constituency in 1984. Sinha is contesting Lok Sabha elections from Patna Sahib constituency in Bihar.

Television star Shekhar Suman has been pitted against Sinha by the Congress party. "I have been here for a long time; Shekhar Suman has suddenly come from nowhere.

Initially he was trying for BJP and also campaigned for Advaniji and Modi," Sinha said. Asked about the past attacks on Biharis in Mumbai, Sinha said: "Bal Thackeray is like a father to me... I appealed to him for peace, I said Jai Maharashtra and he said Jai Bihar.
