Surat-born top Tollywood actress Namitha Vankawala, was in her hometown on Friday. Not for some political campaign, but to inaugurate an exhibition organised by the ladies wing of chamber of commerce. Vankawala spoke about her future plans, upcoming movies and her journey to Tollywood.

Vankawala was in the city to inaugurate three-day Women Entrepreneur Exhibition (Wee) organised by women's wing of South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) at SMC party plot in Athwalines.

Speaking to mediapersons, Vankawala expressed satisfaction with her career in the Tamil film industry.

She said that she has no hesitation in being termed as 'sex bomb or masala girl.' The actress said that such names occur due to glamour involved in the film industry and one's popularity among its fans.

"Entering film industry in south was a coincidence," recalls Vankawala, adding that she was spotted by one of agents of Tollywood, while modelling at a show in Mumbai, during her early 20s.

"After acting in two South Indian films, I had a huge fan following and due to which, I decided to develop my career in Tollywood only. In all, 20 out of my 30 films have been silver jubilee and it shows that how much my fans love me. I don't have any plans for Bollywood, but will work in Gujarati films if, given a good script," the actress said.She also expressed concern about lack of infrastructure in the city for upcoming talents and said that girls will have to be given more freedom and opportunities by their parents. "There are many more Namithas in Surat, who are waiting for an opportunity to showcase their talent,'' she said.
