Watching The Fast and the Furious again on televion, I couldn't help but wonder which character truly warranted a sequel. Leave alone three. 

Don't assume I don't like the first movie. I actually quite enjoyed it for being an arenaline rush pulsating from scene to scene. High on stunts and even a concrete storyline, the original was the movie that showcased to a wider audience, the pure unblemished appeal of cars. 

In this chapter, we have Dom Toretto (Diesel) and Brian (Waker) reuniting after their encounter in the first movie. It isn't pleasant but they're forced to work together against a common foe. Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster return alongside their respective flames.

The story is merely the owners of the franschise looking too hard for that fourth chapter. What they end up finding is a empty plot constantly trying to redeem itself.

What works enough to get Fast and Furious a 3 star rating is simply the first movie. The character are here, even if not well developed. The action is high octane and worth being fixated upon for that meagre hour and 45 minutes. 

Watch it for nostalgia of the original, forget the two chapters you think you saw and enjoy Fast and Furious for what it was probably meant to be; a fast paced joyride in the past, much like its tagline.
