Mumbai: When DNA learned that Poonam Yadav was coming to town on a hush-hush visit from Lucknow, we tailed her from the airport to building number 20 at the Mhada complex - the apartment of Ismail Durbar where he stays with his two sons from his first wife, a toddler from his second wife Ayesha and, of course, Ayesha.
Earlier, if one recalls, Poonam had attempted to commit suicide with an overdose of sleeping pills just weeks after landing a job with the Central Railways. She also allegedly had a torrid affair with music composer Ismail Durbar while contesting for a reality show in which Ismail was a judge. And, she is the same girl who allegedly had an abortion a few months after Ismail got her a flat in Mumbai.
"I have come here to say sorry to Ismail sir and Ayesha ma'am," explains Poonam. "I never knew that that act of mine (the suicide attempt) would threaten to destroy their lives. Everybody is hounding me. I was depressed and so I took an overdose of sleeping pills and landed up in the hospital. But I never had an abortion or an affair with him."
Was it then a boyfriend who couldn't handle her fame and ditched her? "I can't discuss that. I am trying to rebuild my life. I never knew that it will have such a devastating effect on my life. I come from a slum in Lucknow. I don't have money. Ismail sir was the only one who could help me get a career. I never went to Varanasi with Ismail sir. I don't know where this came from."
Ismail adds in a heated tone, "These few days have robbed me of my sleep. The whole family was praying so that the girl lives to tell the tale. I was relieved when she called Ayesha from Lucknow to say that she is safe. You can see the reality with your own eyes now. Do I need to tell you more?"
