Mumbai: She's just been conferred with the 'Woman of the Year' award by the Young Environmentalists Programme Trust, Mumbai, and Raima Sen says that really makes for a special achievement. "I believe that one must give back to society and, in my own way, if I can do so through my films then that's very satisfying," she smiles.
The actor also maintains being an independent thinker has helped. For one, she doesn't let rumours affect her. "I'm single," she states, when asked about the talk that was doing the rounds lately of Yuvraj Singh and her 'special' friendship. "Yuvraj and I do hang about together but he's also known to my sister Riya. We read about things, but look, link-ups don't bother us; we're all friends, that's all," is all she says.
Not many know that Raima has quite a green thumb and has used her penchant for plants well in her Juhu home that she shares with Riya. "I get that from my parents," she explains. "In Kolkata, we have a large bungalow and there's a delightful terrace garden that my dad tends to, so when we got our own place here I decided to replicate that with plants and flowers in the verandah space." Other than that connect, she does miss her home. "Especially my 'clubbing' life," she smiles. "Here in Mumbai I never go to any clubs." With a little more time now, Raima plans to do the things she's been missing out on. For starters, playing net scrabble. Movies, at least two a day, go with that. She'd also like to be able to cook better. "Riya's a much better cook than me any day; all I can make are Maggi noodles," she admits.
Meanwhile, she's looking forward to having something else served on her platter. "Action roles," she says. "They'd be quite nice for a change."
