Mumbai: He went wrong with his comic timing - that is as far as his television show is concerned. But putting aside all the disappointment, Johnny Lever is back to entertain the audience as he used to do in his hey-day.
Now that the industry is teeming with comedians, mimicry artistes and part-time stand-up comedians, is it too much of competition for him?
"I don't think it is competition at all. It's good that the industry is getting so many comedians and people are appreciating it. I don't need to prove anything more about my capabilities. I belong to a different league. I like these young talents and I want to promote them as well," says Johnny.
True to his word, Johnny has founded the first ever association of mimicry artistes in India. "I am the president of the organisation and we have about 80 members. Recently, we organised the first-ever Mimicry Festival in Mumbai," says he.
He admits candidly, "I took a break of four years as I was not enjoying what I was doing. But then my TV show didn't do well and I decided to make a comeback again to my original love - cinema. I have signed about 10 movies. A few of them like Paying Guest, Dhoondte Reh Jaoge and De Dhanadhan will release this year. So, I am back to tickle you," he ends.
