Renowned playback singer Kavita Krishnamurti today on Thursday, said that the exposure to Indian Cinema and music across globe has helped it to win international accolades.
"We always had best of music in Indian cinema... Indian music is one of the greatest music in the world but India at that time was not powerful country," Krishnamurthi told reporters here.
She said that now India on forefront globally and Indian cinema is watched by other people because their mainstream theatre are playing the Indian films.
Krishnamurti is in Goa to perform in the concert organised by Entertainment Society of Goa in Panaji.
She will be playing with 12 Goan child artists.
Replying to a question, the singer said that AR Rahman winning Oscar is a "proud moment for all Indians."
"Indian music has reached international stage... It's a wonderful feeling," she said.
The singer was accompanied by husband violin maestro Padma Bhushan Dr L Subramanyam and her daughter, Bindu.
Dr Subramanyam said that he is working on the project of his daughter, which is a compilation of English songs written and sung by her.
"The album with title song Surrender is having 14 tracks," he said. On their Goa trip, Krishnamurti said that it was really fascinating to perform in Goa as the crowd was receptive.
"It's mindblowing to be in Goa as this is such a nice place," she said.
