I got fatigued with the films I was doing
Wednesday, February 11, 2009 17:57 [IST]

emraanWe hear that you have taken a keen interest in photography. Is it for an upcoming film role?
No, it's a hobby. I love taking pictures as I intend to capture the rare emotions and sights on my camera. Painting, on the other hand, has become very personal for me. I'll continue painting for sure. I have become a better painter after taking a crash course on it during the shooting of my film Raaz. I will be seen as a painter again in my forthcoming film Tum Mile (smiles).

Will you hold an exhibition of your paintings? We heard that you plan to donate the proceeds towards charity?
I'm a very private person when it comes to philanthropy. I don't like to talk much about it. I do not want to announce what I'm doing for a good cause. I think going public about these things defeats the very purpose of doing it (charity). I'm doing something or the other for charity, but let's not talk about it.

With back-to-back hits like Jannat and Raaz, are you on cloud nine?
Very much! I'm really happy that my films are working. The best thing is that I'm doing different genres. I can feel the newness in my work.

I got fatigued with the kind of cinema I was doing. I felt that I was repeating myself and I was fed up of being a typecast. I swore to myself that I would not do the things I was doing earlier in my career (Emraan was named the serial kisser for his on-screen lip locks).

I moved away from it, risked an already established image but thankfully people liked this Emraan too.

There were reports of cracks in the Emraan and Vishesh Films relationship...
Well, there were creative differences of opinion. I had the opinion that I shouldn't be a part of the song O Jaana but the Bhatts thought I had to be there. We had discussions but it did not reach a stage where we wanted to walk out of our relationship. We are a family and work as a team. We cannot split.

You have an interesting line-up of films...
After a long time I will do an out-and-out love story (Tum Mile) and I'm looking forward to it. Then, there is this thriller titled Raftaar and then there's Raaz3. Again, I'm happy that I have a mix of films up my sleeve for this year.
