London: Describing the wave of attacks on north Indians in Maharashtra by supporters of MNS chief Raj Thackeray as "sad" events, Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor has said that Indians have right to "travel and work freely" anywhere in the country.
"If you are an Indian, you should be respected. You should be able to travel freely and work wherever possible," Kapoor told PTI.
He described the incident in which a person from Uttar Pradesh was brutally murdered in a moving train in Mumbai by suspected MNS activist as "sad." Kapoor, who was here for the release of the film "Slumdog Millionaire" which turned out to be a smash hit, said "I agree there are certain cultural values and ethos of the state... People who come from outside should learn those culture and values."
The Bollywood actor, who has acted in nearly 100 Hindi movies and won innumerable awards over the years, put up a splendid role as Prem , the TV show s quiz master, in the film "Slumdog Millionaire" based on Indian diplomat Vikas Swarup's award winning novel Q A. On the global financial crisis, the actor said: "the Indian economy has become very very strong.
This government and the next government which comes to power has to focus on villages and small towns and develop infrastructure." "India and China will be two super powers of the world. I want a good party to come to power," he added.
