After horror, Vikram Bhatt to make 'creature' film
Sunday, November 02, 2008 08:04 [IST]

vikram_bhattNew Delhi: Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt, whose horror flick "1920" bombed at the box office, is now set to give India its first ever "creature" film. Instead of a Bollywood star, the hero of Bhatt's film would be a creature.

"I'm working on a script for a creature film and, yes, I'm meeting up with certain people on the same. But I will make the announcement when everything's ready. I am planning to announce something very big. Wait and watch but it's too early to tell the details," said Bhatt in a statement.

According to a source, Bhatt is "planning to get special effects and technical assistance from the people who have worked with Steven Spielberg and the likes".

"Vikram is currently in the US meeting various experts," said the source.

Bhatt, associated with films like "Raaz" and "Kasoor", is rumoured to invest almost Rs.1 billion for his "creature" project. In Hollywood, such films like "Jaws" and the "Jurassic Park" series have proven money-spinners.

As of now, the director is working towards three back-to-back films, including two home productions. He feels dabbling in horror films is his forte.

"Every filmmaker has a genre he is comfortable with and every filmmaker is a peddler. Karan Johar peddles emotions. Yashraj peddles romance. Priyadarshan and David Dhawan peddle comedy. I peddle fear. And I teach my audience how to fight their fear and come out stronger," said Bhatt.
