Mumbai: Comfortably seated in a couch, busy fiddling with his phone, Tusshar Kapoor greets us with a smile.
We speak about his career that hasn't really taken off. Tusshar says that he is hopeful that his career will shape up like his legendary dad Jeetendra's.
He says, "Im not satisfied by the way my career has shaped up but its okay. I want to be in the industry for 30-35 years. I want to taste success step by step. Even my dad's career was like this. He worked for almost 20 years before he reached the peak of his career in 1983. I hope my career goes like my dad's."
Tell him that his dad Jeetendra thinks that he's a very undemanding child and the actor agrees, "I'm a self-made man, at least I think so. I was sensitive before but I've become very tough now. Being an actor's son always has everybody keeping a close watch on your steps. But I didn't have to really deal with it because I was studying abroad. That is when I realised what my strengths are."
'
He claims to be an ambivert by nature and says that he gets over things (especially failures) very quickly in life. Tusshar says, "When my movie doesn't do well, dad thinks I'm hiding my disappointment but the fact is that I move on quickly. I don't get disappointed. I don't cry over spilt milk."
For a while, Tusshar will be seen only in multi-starrers like Run Bhola Run (with Govinda, Ameesha Patel Upen Patel etc), Life Partner (with Akshaye Khanna, Govinda, Fardeen Khan, Prachi Desai etc) and the sequel of Kya Kool Hai Hum. But that doesnt bother him.
He says, "What matters is that you get noticed even though you are in a multi-starrer film. Look at the boys in Rock On for an example. Each of them have been noticed."
After his debut in Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai (opposite Kareena Kapoor), Tusshar worked with her in Jeena Sirf Mere Liye and now after almost five years, they are coming together on Golmaal Returns.
He says, "We've been friends for long now. Ive seen her change. Shes more mature now and has become better as a looker. Even her attitude towards work has changed ... Everything has changed."
Quiz him about his latest link-up (with Celina Jaitley), he says rather diplomatically, "We are just friends. She's a film buff like me. We just entertain each other by imitating old filmi dialogues."
