Denying an affair with the Khan, the Brazilian model admits that he was concerned about her career, writes Prithwish Ganguly
There’s one more life that Salman Khan seems to have touched—that of Brazil’s finest export to India model Bruna Abdullah. The model who has Bollywood dreams says that she has met the star only twice. But even in those short meetings, Salman helped the aspirant in his own way. “Salman and I are not friends. But yes we met twice—once when he referred me to a modelling agency. The second time I met him, he was with Katrina (Kaif),” Bruna says adding, “He was very concerned about my career. He is good friends with the owner of my agency who handles Katrina’s work also. He put me in the right hands. I don’t react at all to the rumours about us dating. I know whose arms I go to everyday.”
Incidentally, it was reported that Bruna and Salman were often seen enjoying bike rides together. Nevertheless, who is the mystery man in this 21-year-old headturner’s life?
“His name is Sunny (Sara, restaurateur). I have been seeing him for more than a year. I know his parents, he knows mine. I want to settle here but I’m still young. I will think about marriage later,” she says.
Bruna continues, “I am not ready for films yet though there are a lot of offers. There’s lot to learn and understand about the industry. I’m attending dance classes, doing an acting course and also learning Hindi,” she says.
Has she come across the ‘casting couch’ syndrome? “Yes I did. I have met some weird people. They will call you for dinner but not to their office. One of them said, ‘Bruna I have heard about you. Do you want to come out with me? I have a very nice offer’. Some also say, ‘I have an item number for you. Would you like to come to my house? I would like you to hear the music’,” she reveals.
Bruna landed in India two-and-a-half-years-ago. Today, she is a proud owner of a flat in Bandra. “I love working here, I love the people. It was hard to adapt in the beginning because it was a cultural shock. I came here just to see Bombay. I ended up getting into a modelling agency and becoming a VJ and a model. I did not expect all this,” she ends.
