Dev Anand honours senior citizens

Legendary actor Dev Anand gave away awards here to senior citizens for their contribution to the society.

Apart from Dev Anand, Congress MP Priya Dutt, Justice Leila Seth and Maharashtra Governor S.C. Jamir also presented the Harmony Silver Awards at an event late Tuesday. Each award carries of Rs.51,000 and a citation. 

The award winners included Baba Adhav and Mandakini Dravid (Pune), Parthibhai Bhatol (Ahmedabad), Kambel Chulai (Meghalaya), Hirbaiben Lobi (Gujarat), Brother Brenden MacCarthaigh (Kolkata), Hasnath Mansur (Bangalore), Subhasini Mistry (West Bengal), Hardev Singh Sawhney (New Delhi) and Laxman Singh (Rajasthan).

Speaking on the occasion, Jamir said he too was a senior citizen. "I belong to their family. I am nearing 78 and feel proud to be a senior citizen of India."
