Mumbai:Noted lyricist Sameer, who has penned songs for Himesh Reshammiya starrer Karzzz has said that his work in the film is a tribute to legendary songwriter Anand Bakshi.
"Karzzz is very close to my heart as I have devoted my compositions to Anand Bakshi. I draw inspiration from him as I
consider him my mentor," Sameer said on Monday.
Karzzz is having LPs from time to time.
"Himesh Reshammiya, who has as many as over three dozen chart busters to his credit in the last few years, makes a magnificent comeback with this grand musical offering," the lyricist said.
In Karzzz, Himesh Reshammiya and Sameer have come together after a long gap.
"Aap Ka Surroor was our last venture together which created much hype among the music listeners. Himesh and I had formed a team. I did some of my finest and the most popular works for Himesh from Tere Naam to Aap Kaa Surroor. But now that he has decided to compose only for his own movies, I have been forced to slow down," he said.
"I am writing the lyrics for Himeshs upcoming films. Kajra Re and A Love Ssssshtory with the latest being Karzzz," he added.
"In Karzzz, traditional Indian instruments like tabla, sitar, harmonium and sarangi get mellifluously amalgamated with westernised beat patterns. The antraas are sensitively verbatim and are worth hearing," Sameer said.
"The free flowing lyrics are in a composition that reminds of flashy 80s disco era," he said.
"Karzzz is based on a theme of revenge which is not at all a soft theme but I have to write romantic songs for this film which was the biggest challenge for me. Every musical composition bears certain energy, a vibration and a life of its own; I had to drill down for words to create a romantic song," he said.
"It was very difficult to write down songs for Karzzz but I would give the credit to my inspiration Anand Bakshi whom I consider as my guide," he added.
Sameer, who wants to write more melodious songs which are meaningful, has his hands full with Golmaal Returns, Do Knot Disturb, Kajrare, Houseful and many other.
