Mallika wants to stop talking
Tuesday, July 22, 2008 05:51 [IST]

mallikaMallika Sherawat, who is known for her sharp-tongued statements, says now onwards she wants her work to do all the talking

Mallika Sherawat was a sultry siren who, apart from her sex appeal, used to hog limelight because of her sharp-tongue statements or curt retorts. However, Mallika now says she is consciously trying not to open her mouth and wants to do some quality work.

“I think I have spoken enough. It’s time for me to stop talking and do some good work and let my work speak for itself,” she said when asked why she is shying away from the media and does not dish out those quotable quotes any more.

We don’t know exactly if it is her conscious realisation of not talking her mind out or if it is a brilliant PR ploy to make her a hot property whenever she steps out into the open. Mallika had drawn a lot of ire from many quarters over the years as she either took a dig at her co-stars or fired off some really narcissist comments. Some of her previous comments are as follows:

In a chat show she had said, “I can do ‘Yeh Mera Dil’ better than Kareena,” while commenting about Kareena Kapoor’s dance number from the film “Don”. It has been widely reported that she went on to say “I can do it better because I am better than Kareena” on the same show. Apparently Kareena was furious at her post this.

It was also reported that when she was asked why she changed her name from Reema Lamba to Mallika Sherawat, she said “There were a lot of Riya Sens, Raima Sens and Reemi Sens, so I thought Mallika Sherawat would sound better. And it does have a regal quality to it, doesn’t it?”

The queen of quotable quotes has also been game for skin shows and bold scenes on screen. In her first film “Khwahish” she did a record number of 17 kissing scenes.
But getting bold is not the only thing that is attracting Mallika these days. Intellectual men are also two thumbs up for her. She has recently been paired with Rahul Bose and Ranvir Shorey for her forthcoming movies and she says she loves the company of brainy men.

“I love intellectual men. I love being in their company,” she says.

Well, looks like Mallika is seriously in for some big time image makeover. What’s next? We wonder!
