Saturday, July 19, 2008 05:45 [IST]

anoushkaRenowned sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar and his daughter Anoushka Shankar may come together again to perform in the last venue of Ravi Shankar’s Farewell to Europe tour to be held in Paris on September 1.

The 88-year-old icon was on a tour of Europe which abruptly culminated at the prestigious Barbican Centre in London due to his illness. When the show was called off, Anoushka’s website read, “With great regret Ravi Shankar has had to cancel the majority of his Farewell to Europe tour next month for health reasons. His performances and master classes in May in Paris, Barcelona (1 June) and London will no longer be going ahead.”

He, however, performed in the second show that was held on June 4 at the same venue with Anoushka. But there seems to be a revival of sorts for this tour. Anoushka’s website has announced that the tour will, by all possibilities, continue and Ravi Shankar, along with her, may perform in the Salle Pleyel concert hall in Paris on September 1.

“We are hoping to reschedule Ravi Shankar’s performance at the Salle Pleyel in Paris later this year, and details of this will be announced shortly,” said the website. After Paris, the duo will travel through North America and will perform at various cities
there.
