Mona Singh says that it has been a conscious decision on her part to be selective in the quality of work she does.

“My debut serial was a trend setter. Television soaps and reality shows in recent times have been done to death. I don’t want to be just any other character on television. There is no novelty left in the kind of programming that is seen in the last few years,” Mona told PTI.

Mona said she is hoping for television series which will be a trend setter like Jassi... The actress, who participated in a reality dance show Jhalak Dikhla Ja and won the competition and also hosted the second season, said that despite offers to be a participant in different reality shows across various channels, she had refrained from making an appearance.

“I have always been choosy and selective. I want the novelty of Jhalak.. to remain,” she said.
Mona felt it was high time the trend in television programming undergoes a change. “I am waiting for a good break on television,” she added.

Stating that it was her dream to work with superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Mona hoped that she may bag her first big Bollywood project soon.

“I will be able to make an announcement by the end of this year. It is too early now,” she said.
