Jajantaram Mamantaram, the hit Indian version of Gulliver’s Travels that had Javed Jaffrey playing the lead and was directed by Soumitra Ranade, is going to have a sequel and might have Javed Jaffrey playing the protagonist again.
“The success of Jajantaram Mamantaram had made us really think hard about making a sequel to it and we are happy to announce that we are definitely making it happen now,” said Ashish Bhatnagar, CEO of IDREAM production, the producers of the film. He adds: “The film is in its scripting stage and we are working to incorporate really good graphics and animation.”
So will the same cast and crew be repeated for the sequel? “We don’t know that as of now. The film is on its pre-production stage and we are waiting to see how the script turns out to be and then take a call on it. Most probably we will have Javed and maybe Soumitra will direct it,” Ashish said. Jajantaram Mamantaram’s sequel will be a big budget one and is expected to go to the floors by the end of this year. “It is a very high budget film. Going by the plans we have, we are not sure what the ultimate budget will go up to. But we need the money because there is animation, there are visual effects and those don’t come in cheap. It is one of our dream projects,” says the producer.
