Emraan Hashmi tells Ranjib Mazumder that he finds nothing wrong in the overdose of reality shows on TV
Emraan Hashmi has become the lastest celeb to jump on the small screen to garner that extra mileage for his upcoming film. He will be making a guest appearance to present an award on a music channel.
I have chosen to come in the show (Channel V’s Campus Star) because somehow I felt connected because of my college life,” he confesses.
Being an alumnus of Sydneham College in Mumbai, the actor still misses that period most.
“I regret for not participating in the extra-curricular activities. In terms of studies, I was just average. I feel I should have taken up Arts as my stream in graduation as I was interested in the process of filmmaking,” he adds.
But, at a time when the TV audience has got an overdose of reality shows, will coming on yet another show increase his brand value?
“Everyone is in the business of entertainment. In the age of multiple channels, everyone wants to get their share of TRPs and reality shows just add to the spice. What’s wrong in that?” he asks.
Be it SRK, Salman or Akshay, all the big stars are hosting shows on the small screen. Is he game for small screen too? “I am so caught up with my multiple schedules of my films, that I hardly have time for my family. So, besides my films I try to devote my time to my family. But, if anything really exciting comes my way, I am open to offers.”
But there must have been some offers that have come his way? “Yes, I was offered a show by a big production house. But I don’t want to take any name for ethical reasons,” he says.
So, does he believe in the system of campism that exists in Bollywood? “Yes, I will be lying if I say they don’t exist here.”
What about the dirty politics that goes behind it? “I don’t think any dirty politics goes behind it. It’s all about the comfort level. If a certain number of people are comfortable with each other’s working style, a camp automatically forms,” he adds.
How’s his Raaz 2 shaping up, given that there is a huge expectation from the sequel which was a blockbuster? “The shooting is going on smoothly, and it’s shaping up really well. I know there is a huge expectation from us given its huge popularity and lovely music. I think I and Kangana are going to create more magic then Dino and Bipasha,” he says.
