'Sonia denied permission to make film on her'
Thursday, May 08, 2008 17:55 [IST]

Mumbai: Film maker Jagmohan Mundhra has denied reports that he has been granted permission by Congress president Sonia Gandhi to make a film on her.

Speaking to IANS here Wednesday, the director said a section of the media has "misquoted" him by saying that he has got permission from the Congress leader to make the film.

Expressing his astonishment, Mundhra said it was an old issue. "I wonder why it is being discussed now," he said.

Mundhra said he planned the project in 2006 but was served with a legal notice by the Congress party then.

When he replied to the legal notice, he was called by the Congress president for a meeting in the same year. The duo discussed about the issue and Gandhi expressed her reservations.

"The meeting was good and Gandhi was courteous. She is a private person and wants to keep her personal moments within her," Mundhra said.

"I am busy with my other assignments, but I will definitely approach her and the party again for the permission, once the Lok Sabha elections are over," he added.
