Suchitra’s getting steamy
Tuesday, May 06, 2008 04:02 [IST]

suchitraActress Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, whose film Karma Confessions and Holi may be finally releasing this year after getting delayed for almost two years, will see Suchitra playing an Indian girl married to a non resident Indian and shedding her inhibitions to do a steamy scene that she says was aesthetically shot and much needed for the script.

The film, directed by Manish Gupta, is about the inner conflicts of relationships, which had never been spoken before but in a festive atmosphere of the Hindu festival Holi, each person loses the inhibitions and how the relationships eventually become stronger.

“I am a person who is very shy about my body and I was very hesitant doing the scene but I trusted the director, understood that the script demands it and shed my inhibitions,” said Suchitra.

According to the actor, the shot is a love making scene between the husband and wife and there’s nothing vulgar in the sequences.

“The scene has been very aesthetically shot and it looks very pure. It’s a husband and wife making love in the end. There’s nothing cheap or vulgar or provocative,” she added.

Hmm. But did you trust the director and the script because it was a Hollywood film?

Will you do a similar scene if it was a Bollywood film? “If I trust the film, I will do it but I have to be very convinced that the script demands it. If not, then I will never do it. I have to be very sure about who is directing the film too. If the director is good, you know you are in safe hands.”

So Suchitra, you are shy about your body. But aren’t you a painter? As a painter shouldn’t you be comfortable with figures? “Yes you are right but I know my limits and there are certain things that I would not like to do. However, for Karma Confessions, the film and the scene both were so appealing that I knew doing this scene was essential,” she signs off.
