London: Rising British pop star Leona Lewis was happy that her poor eyesight did not allow her to see the big stars as she performed at music mogul Clive Davis' pre-Grammy Awards party.

Contactmusic.com reports that Lewis, who performed in February, revealed she suffers from chronic stage fright before shows and would have become hysterical if she could see the big stars sitting in front of her at the function.

She recalled: "I could see Rihanna and Chris Brown, because they were closest to where I was singing onstage. Luckily for me, I'm shortsighted. It's the only time in my life where I've thought, 'Yes, I can't see!'"

Lewis now has to learn to control her pre-show fears.

She said: "I get really shallow breath, and that's just the worst, because I need a lot of breath to hit those high notes."
