Edward Woodard slams 'Wicker Man' remake
Sunday, April 27, 2008 14:55 [IST]

London: Veteran actor Edward Woodard claims he will never watch the 2006 remake of the thriller "The Wicker Man" starring Oscar winner Nicolas Cage because it could never be as good as the original.

The 77-year-old Woodward, who starred in the original, was shocked when someone decided to modernise the original 1973 classic and also doesn't care too much to watch Cage take on the role of the cop who investigates strange happenings on a remote island.

Contactmusic.com reports him saying: "I didn't watch it. I didn't feel like it. If it was a run-of-the-mill movie then fine. But 'The Wicker Man' was very special and has claimed a cult following."

Cage won an Oscar for his 1995 role in "Leaving Las Vegas" and has starred in such hits as "Con Air", "Gone in Sixty Seconds" and "National Treasure".
