moushmiMoushumi's Chatterjee convinced daughter Megha to do an item number, reports Ranjib Mazumder

Megha Chatterjee, daughter of Balika Badhu Mousumi Chatterjee will be seen in an item number for Sanjay Sharma’s Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro. In the act, Megha will be “paying a tribute” to the yesteryear actor Parveen Babi.

According to Kapil Sharma, who’s playing the main lead in the film, Megha’s presence infuses a fresh spirit in the film which it badly needed.

“We wanted someone fresh to give tribute to Parveen Babi in this song.  Coincidentally, Megha and I are good friends, she came to my birthday party and my brother (director Sanjay Sharma) spotted her there. He offered her the heroine’s role but she couldn’t give us the dates. But later we have thought of putting an item number in this movie and Megha was our only choice,” said Kapil.

The item number will be a remixed version of Bappi Lahiri’s famous classic number Raat baki, baat baki from Namak Halal.

“Bappida remixed his own song for the first time and we wanted a really glamourous girl to do the number and Megha was the perfect choice. Initially, Megha was little bit apprehensive about performing an item number as she was getting offers for main roles. She was also scared that people will compare her with Parveen Babi,” Kapil added.
But it was then Moushumi Chatterjee stepped in and convinced her daughter that she should do the dance number.

“Thanks to Moushumi aunty, she literally insisted Megha to do the number because Parveen Babi and Moushumi aunty were good friends. She also told Megha that she should do all the more because Parveen was her friend. Finally she agreed and I took her to my dance classes and within three months she was ready to perform the song on screen,” he signed off.

Apparently Bappi Lahiri is the first music director who has remixed his own song! They have selected Megha because she has that innocent and yet a glam look. This will be an expensive item number. For this song the producer and the director has spent 80 lakhs and have created a huge palace set with a 2000-strong crowd and about 500 dancers.
