Bhoothnath is the story of a young boy and a ghost. A young Banku (Aman Siddiqui) and Bhoothnath (Amitabh Bachchan), a ghost, become friends and help each other in various walks of life.

Banku and his family move into a new house unaware of the fact that it is haunted. Bhoothnath, the supernatural resident of the house is possessive about his property and sees the new tenants as intruders.

He tries to scare them away, but eventually ends up becoming friends with the kid. Banku takes it upon himself to uncover the reasons behind Bhoothnath's wandering soul and helps him attain salvation.

The film also stars Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla who play Banku's parents.
