Dorji, who is aspiring for a career in India's film industry, was given the "MAA TV viewers choice award" for his "suave performance" in the film, directed by Lawrence with Nagarjuna and Anushka in the lead roles.

The movie has also been dubbed into Hindi as "Don No. 1".

"I am very honoured that I got this recognition because it was a viewers choice award. I am very happy and I look forward to showing it (the trophy) to everybody in Bhutan," Dorji told the Bhutan Times.

His parents are the residents of Bhutan which has recently transited from a monarchy and embraced democracy.

"It's a great achievement and I am a very proud father," Dasho Benji said.

The family here celebrated Dorji's achievement in a grand manner, he said.

Don has been reportedly doing well in southern India.

The actor, whose relationship with long-time girlfriend Lara Dutta ended on a not-so-happy note, studied at St Paul's School in Darjeeling and St Xavier's College in Mumbai.

He made his Bollywood debut in "Tango Charlie".
