It is sure-shot boom time for the regional films (esp. Marathi). After
Tingya being adjudged as the Best Film at the MAMI Film Festival, it is the turn of yet another Marathi film to shine on the international arena.
We are indeed talking about Chitra Palekar's
Maati Maay, which has Nandita Das, Atul Kulkarni and Kshitij Gavande in the lead roles. This film has just recently won the 'Prix du jury Graine de Cinephage Award' in the feature films category, at the recently concluded 30th Créteil's International Women's Film Festival (Festival International de Films de Femmes de Créteil), which was held in Paris, France.
It seems like winning awards and recognitions is becoming a habit for this film, as this is the fourth international recognition received by the film.
Maati Maay is a film, which is based on '
Baayen' a short story by the renowned author Mahasweta Devi.
