Sonali, happy being a mother
Monday, March 24, 2008 17:24 [IST]

sonali_bendreShe’s been missing from the scene for a while now. So what makes the beautiful and elusive Sonali Bendre take to judging the reality show Mr and Ms TV (on Sony)?

“Well, they promised to shoot right next to my house, so I said yes” she laughed.

“Jokes apart, the main motive was that it’s a short commitment of nine days only. Besides, I found the concept very interesting — television actors will have to do different things — comedy, singing and dancing. It would be a pleasant surprise to see them portray their personal skills which will be different from the character’s that they play on screen.”

She admits that the trend of reality shows has caught on to her, “If they are there on every other channel, it must be working.

What kind of judge will she be? “I haven’t really thought. I only know that I will be honest. I will not be bothered whether anyone considers me strict or lenient because I am going to be honest and that’s that,” she said.

About her look, she’s clear, “It’s not going to be something major. The contestants do have particular looks and themes decided. But as a judge, I will be Sonali Bendre, no added frills.”

Any plans of a comeback to films? “I really don’t plan things. Be it films, theatre or a television show like this, I consider it when the offer comes. But yes, acting asks for a long commitment which I am not ready for at this point. A proper television show also requires 20-25 days a month. Right now, I am too busy spending time with my baby and that’s a full-time job. That doesn’t go to say that I am close to films — if an exciting offer comes my way, I would be game for it.”
