New York: Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry has become a mother for the first time, a US magazine reported.

Berry, 41, gave birth to a girl Sunday, People, a celebrity and human-interest magazine, said Sunday, citing a representative for the actress.

The baby's name and place of birth were not released, but the spokeswoman said Berry was "doing great".

The father is Berry's model boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry, 32. The two met while shooting a Versace ad in November 2005 in Los Angeles and have no plans to marry, according to Berry, who won the best actress Oscar in 2002 for her role in "Monster's Ball", in which she played the wife of a prison inmate involved in a mixed-race affair with one of his guards.

Berry has been married twice before, to baseball player David Justice and singer Eric Benet.
