They say matches are made in heaven. But this love story began quite accidentally at someone else’s wedding! Ask Preeti Jhangiani and Parvin Dabbas, who are preparing for a starry wedding on March 23, about it and they share a laugh.

“I’m glad I met Preeti, she’s a princess. You can always tell a person by how he/she treats people who are not as lucky as them. In that respect, Preeti’s a class apart,” says Parvin. “We first met at Dabboo (photographer) and Manisha Ratnani’s wedding a few years back,” adds Preeti. “I said ‘hi’ to him thinking I knew him. He just looked behind him thinking I was saying ‘hi’ to someone else,” she explains. By the time Parvin realised that Preeti was wishing him, she had stormed off thinking he had an ‘attitude’. “He came me to me a while later, very shyly, to say sorry and that he didn’t mean to be rude,” recalls Preeti.

Fate reworked its plan with them on the sets of Luv Tumhara in Manali. “Parvin grew on me slowly,” she says. “That’s true. I usually take time to get to know people. But I soon realised she was special,” adds he. An avid photographer and travel enthusiast, Parvin would take time off to go trekking and clicking pictures. That is what got Preeti’s attention. “While he was shy he was also was extremely focused on his work,” she says. After the movie that they kept in touch and love bloomed. And last year, Parvin proposed to Preeti, ‘quite romantically’ she says, not revealing any more.

The families on both sides also gave the union a nod. “It doesn’t matter that she is a Sindhi and I’m a Haryanvi Jat, we come from Indian families without the ‘casteist’ bent of mind,” states Parvin.

Right now it’s a busy time for them. Preeti is not even sure whether good friend Kim Sharma’s pre-shaadi party will take place. “There’s a question mark over it due to time constraints,” she says. Preeti’s chosen to wear a Neeta Lulla outfit for the sangeet and a Sabyasachi Mukherjee creation for the reception.

The wedding, which will take place at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai, will be followed by a reception in Delhi. “We haven’t planned our honeymoon as yet because I’m going to the US for shows after our reception. Parvin’s also shooting for two films in April and May, but we’ll figure it out soon,” she ends.
