Atul Kulkarni’s Marathi film Valu gets a standing ovation at the Rotterdam Film Festival
Atul Kulkarni is in the news once again with his super hit Marathi film Valu. This film has collected more then Rs 1 crore in three weeks, an amount that is three times more than any other Marathi film.
Not only this, Valu has received a standing ovation at Rotterdam Film Festival at Berlin.
Said Atul, “We had originally planned one screening where some 40 journalists, film critics and a few other interested people were invited. After the first screening, so overwhelming was the demand that we had to screen it six times and that too in auditoriums with more then 1000 seating capacity. Most of them did not understand the language, but they had so many questions at the end of the show.”
This is a film with comic relief and in it Atul Kulkarni has experimented with the genre very successfully.
Next in line is Rakyesh Mehra’s Dilli-6, which is a black comedy.
Besides Dilli 6, Atul’s other forthcoming Hindi films that are in the pipeline include Yeh Hai Mera India of N Chandra, Kachcha Limbu by director Sagar Ballary and Allah Ke Bande directed by debutant director Faruque Kabir.
