Mumbai:  Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowarikar's magnum opus Jodhaa Akbar, starring Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan, opened at theatres across the metropolis to a fantastic response.

There has been a good response for the matinee show of the film, a Gaiety Galaxy theatre spokesperson said.

A star-studded premier of the film, attended by stalwarts of the industry, was held here last night. Some of the people who attended the premiere were Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Anil Kapoor, the Bacchan family sans Abhishekh Bachhan and Ramesh Taurani.

The film was involved in a controversy as some people were of the opinion that Jodhaa Bai was not Akbar's wife. Clarifying about this while speaking to UNI, director and producer of the film, Ashutosh Gowarikar said that the family lineage of Jodha has no objection over the potrayal of her character in the film.

"I have taken precautions that I should not hurt anybody's sentiments and if the lineage of Jodhaa doesn't have any objection why should others object," he added.
