Producer Ravi Chopra has finalised the Maine Pyar Kiya heroine Bhagyashree for his next TV show titled Dharampatni. “All I can say for now, that it will prove a  major comeback for Bhagyashree who still looks so charming, slim and young. She is paired opposite Aman Verma,” he says adding, “It’s an emotional story of a woman passing through the autumnal years of her life. Her ever-busy husband and pre-occupied kids have no time for her.”

Incidentally, Bhagyashree, after giving the superhit Maine Pyar Kiya with Salman Khan in the early 80s, quit films after she married Himalaya Dassani. In between she did a few TV shows but this is her first plum assignment..

Chopra also seems peeved with rumours doing the rounds that his latest serial Pari Hoon Main has an uncanny similarity to the lead characters in the upcoming movie Superstar.

Interestingly, in Pari the lead girl Rashami Desai (Bhojpuri heroine, plays Divya in the show ) plays the double role of the  plain Jane Nikki and the glamorous superstar Pari Rai Chaudhary. In Superstar, directed by Rohit Jugraj , actor Kunal Khemu plays the double role of an ambitous common man and a superstar.

However, Chopra denies that his subject directed by Rajiv Bhanot is similar to the film Superstar. Reacts Chopra, “I can assure home-audiences that our subject is entirely different. Pari is a modern-day Cinderella track. The essence of our story is that whether one is rich or poor, happiness is derived by the way you live.”

He adds, “It’s the story of a simple girl with two plaits and buck teeth, and her transition into a celebrity. While this ordinary girl retains her values even after achieving success, the other humshakal  has total disregard for them,” insists Chopra who preferred to cast a relatively new face for  Pari. “The script demanded a fresh face. So we zeroed in on Rashami,” he ends.
