Taare Zameen Par screened amid tight security
Saturday, December 22, 2007 18:46 [IST]

Vadodara: Targetted by protestors for the last three days for the actor's support to a movement against Sardar Sarovar dam, Aamir Khan's latest flick Taare Zameen Par was today released in a couple of cinema houses here amid tight security, police said.

Cine-goers were seen queueing up for tickets after the film was released at Pratap cinema and PVR mutiplex here. The movie was not released on Friday as little-known groups under the banners of Sardar Patel Group and Hind Rakshak Samiti had opposed its screening and demanded an apology from Khan for the controversial remarks he made against the Narmada Dam.

These groups had submitted a memorandum to the management of several cinema houses in the city asking them not to screen the movie. The theatre owners had however expressed willingness to screen the movie if they got adequate protection. Police had earlier arrested seven members of the Sardar Patel group for tearing down the movies posters and burning them inside the premises of the PVR multiplex.
