The evil Sindhura in 'Dulhann' is both moody and playful at the same time Sindhura…’ goes the background score every time she acts evil in ‘Banoo Main Teri Dulhann’ (Zee) and the audiences are ready for poison.

Vicious vamp
Actor Kaamya Punjabi is infamous and how. “Wherever I go, women ask me why I am being so vicious. They take it so personally,” says she laughing and adds, “I guess it’s Sindhura’s subtlety, which makes her appear more evil than the loud melodrama that one is subjected to in soaps. Sindhura is egoistic, stubborn and suffers from a major superiority complex.”

Simple façade
Kaamya elaborates on her look, “Earlier, the production wanted me to wear heavy make-up—the smoky kohl-lined eyes and heavy jewellery. I did that for the first few episodes. But I didn’t want to look like any other vamp. Finally, I decided to go with simple saris accessorised by a nose ring, minimal oxidised jewellery and a no-make-up look.”

Fun girl
Does she empathise with her character? “People have this misconception that I am as serious as Sindhura. But I am a fun-loving person who loves to live life to the fullest. “

But Kaamya’s co-stars insist that she does not socialise with them. “I am basically a moody person. There are times when I am upset. At such times I like to keep to myself. I wish that people would understand me. In short, I am a difficult person to live with.” She adds, “I am not the kind of person to discuss my scenes with others. I like to keep my work and personal life to myself. So, maybe this impression does hold true.”

Going goody-goody
Kaamya is clamouring for an image change. “No more  negative roles for me. I have had enough of them. I am on the lookout for goody-goody roles. Only  good money or a cameo will make me change my stand.”
