ajaykumarThiruvananthapuram: Malayalam film's 'little man' Ajay Kumar has made it to the Guinness Book of World Records as the `shortest hero leading an adult role in a commercial film' for his performance in `Adbhutha Dweep' (Wonder Island).

Ajay Kumar, who received the intimation from Guiness authorities a couple of days back, said, "I am very happy. I consider it as an achievement for my acting career. I think the honour is not just for being a short man but a recognition as an actor as well".

Ajay Kumar, popularly known as 'Undappakru', said it was a wonderful experience to act in `Adbutha Dweep' directed by noted film-maker Vinayan.

"In fact, Vinayan should get into the Guinness for having invited me for the lead role in the film," he said.

A story of dwarfs in an island following their rigid faiths, `Adbutha Dweep' had apparently been inspired by Jonathan Swift's English classic `Gulliver's Travels.'

The film that blends humour and pathos had been a big hit in Malayalam and was remade into other Indian languages.

Vinayan said Ajayan was a wonderful actor and he was glad to hear about the honour bestowed on him.

Ajay in turn returned the compliment saying that he `shares the joy with the director for taking the risk of giving me a lead role in a big-budget film.'
