Palakkad (Kerala): Well-known Malayalam film actor Ravi Menon (57) today died at a private nursing home at Peruthalmanna near here, family sources said.
Menon, who hailed from Sreekrishnapuram in the district, was suffering from cancer for more than last past one year, the sources said.
Menon, a diploma holder from the Pune Film Institute, started his film career by acting in the award winning film Nirmalayam directed by eminent writer M T Vasudevan Nair. Menon also got the state government special jury award for his role in Nirmalayam.
Shalini Enete Kootukari, Oyaragal, Radha Enna Penkutty were some of the other 50 films Menon acted. Though he had acted in only few films, Menon had left a mark of his own in the minds of the Malayalam film-goers with his excellent acting.
Menon recently also acted in some tele-serials and films after a gap of many years.
Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes President and actor Innocent and several people from different walks of life paid tributes to Menon when his body was laid for public homage at his residence at Sreekrishnapuram.
