Hyderabad: Popular Telugu actor Arthi Agarwal today tied the nuptial knot with US-based professional Ujjwal Kumar at an Arya Samaj temple here.
Arthi (24), who made her acting debut with a Hindi film Paagalpan 2001 before heading South, married her beloved at the temple on Rashtrapati Road in Secunderabad in the presence of her parents.
While the actor hails from an NRI family of Gujarati-descent, Kumar is a native of Jharkhand is working in New Jersey.
After the failure of first Bollywood film, the New Jersey-born actor, began her career in Telugu films in 2001 with hugely successful Nuvvu Naaku Nachav.
She courted controversy when she made a suicide bid in March, 2005 by consuming cleaning liquid in her bathroom at her Jubilee Hills residence here, allegedly due to rumours of her affair with co-star Tarun.
She has acted in 16 films in Telugu, where she teamed up with leading heroes like Venkatesh, Nargarjuna and young hero Tarun. Some of her films include Allari Ramudu, Indra, Nee Sneham, Veede, Nenunnanu, Soggadu Anadala Ramudu etc.
Meanwhile, an unsavoury incident took place after the wedding ceremony as her brother beat up a TV reporter for allegedly going overboard in covering the function.
Mediapersons protested over the incident and they relented after the actors' father and brother apologised to them.
