Johnny Walker’s son Nasir to turn ‘director’

Legendary comedian Johny Walker’s actor son Nasir Kazi seems to be following his father’s footsteps. Like the ‘late’ actor Johnny who had directed a maverick movie ‘Pahunchey Hue Log’(1986),  the junior is all set to follow suit. “Although I will continue with my acting, I am turning director very soon. Currently I am finalising the script, which is not a sitcom, but a comedy. The casting will be based on the screen-character requirement and could be a mix of both new and known faces,” he reveals.

Nasir considers his dad Johnny as an ‘icon’ of sorts for his patented brand of dialogue delivery and pungent humor and wants to see himself doing more comedy roles.

“Call it a career-tragedy that instead of comedy, I have always been getting to play nasty villainish characters over the years in both the TV serials (Amber Dhara) and in movies like Inder Kumar’s ‘Aashiq’. When the same Inder Kumar made this wacko all-male cast comedy in ‘Dhamaal’ he seemed to have forgotten me (chuckles). Believe me, I am dying to do crazy comedy,” shrugs the actor who is cast in odd triple-characters in Vandana Sajnani’s play ‘Perfect Divorce’.

“This time on stage, audiences will see me in three comic avataars of a Sardarji, a Sindhi lawyer with ‘gay’ mannerisms, and an American dude,” laughs Kazi, also has been anchoring for two ‘live’ midnight shows on Zee called ‘Gold Safe’ and Bollywood Bonanza’.
