Who said that painters and ghazal singers can’t make films on Gandhi?
Hota hai na! Who said that a designer and a chocolateur can’t make films on the Mahatma. Yeh bhi hota hai!
Seven celebs are teaming up to organise a short film festival on Mahatma Gandhi. They are ghazal singer Talat Aziz, artists Jaideep Merhotra, designer Krsna Mehta, chocolateur Zeba Kohli and filmmaker Samir Seth.
The event conceptualised by painter Brinda Miler and curated by director Sudhir Mishra will be screened on November 15 at Gallery Art and Soul.
Says, Talat Aziz “I have captured Mahatma’s love for music in my short film. He had once said that music is an important part of our culture and it must be encouraged. That is the premise of the film.”
While, Talat has included many clippings from the internet in his film, Samir Seth chose to shoot it in a studio.
“My movie ‘The Awakening’ looks at today’s India which is learning to be more responsible and also trying to rediscover the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi,” says Samir.
Adds Brinda Miller, “The best part of this event is that all the celebrity participants have tried something themes for their films. Kailash Surendranath has done a fun thing with chocolates.”
Miller said that this short film festival will be an annual affair from now.
