Dubai SeenuWhat’s it about

Seenu (Ravi Teja) wants to go to Dubai. Thus he earns the name of Dubai Seenu. Along with his friends, he lands in Mumbai to leave for Dubai where a middleman dupes them. With no money on their hands, they sell Pav Bhaji on the streets of Mumbai for livelihood. In Mumbai, Dubai Seenu meets Madhumathi (Nayanatara), a girl from Hyderabad searching for her brother. He falls in love with her and also expresses his feelings. When leaving to Hyderabad, Madhumati asks him to come to railway station where she wants to reply. But his close friend is killed on that day by mafia leader Jinna Bhai (Sushanth). After few days, he reaches Hyderabad and he has two missions – to get Madhumati’s love and take revenge on his friend’s murderer.

Analysis

After delivering highly entertaining Dhee, director Sreenu Vaitla comes up with Dubai Seenu. Like all Sreenu Vaitla’s film’s Dubai Seenu too starts off hilariously. With his trusted hero Ravi Teja, he weaves some funny moments. Dubai Seenu has entertaining first half, neat screenplay, suspense element, good comedy tracks, honest performances but its long-drawn second half makes it an average film in the end. Although, it has its share of high moments but it doesn’t satisfy completely. On the whole it is a good time pass, though.

Many of the scenes resemble to that of Venky’s. Yet, there are some scenes that are worth mentioning. Ravi Teja narrating his ‘katha’ to Sunil, a spoof on a big star with M S Narayana (playing the role of ‘fire star’ Saalman Raju), Ravi Teja’s play with Shayji Shinde and Krishna Baghavan’s episode in Mumbai. These scenes have brought down the house.
The film drags on and in the second half loses focus. M S Narayana’s introduction makes difference though. Music is not good. The color tone of the film at times is puts us off.

Performances

Ravi Teja is in his good elements. He looks handsome. His chemistry with Nayanatara is also fantastic. Nayanatara looks gorgeous in the movie. She plays the role of Radio Jockey and looks dignified. Ram Gopal Varma’s discovery Sushanth makes debut as villain into Tollywood with this film. He dons several getups in the film he does the role with élan. His characterization and performance is fresh. It is good to see J D Chakravarthy back in action. He should be appreciated for accepting such a small role. Neha looks slim. Shayaji Shinde as comic villain has brought laugh. Of comedy actors, it is M S Narayana who steals the show after that Krishna Baghavan and Sunil get the cake. Raghu Babu as sidekick is okay.

Director Srinu Vaitla has chosen different in narration in the film. He has maintained the suspense element till the second half with his screenplay technique and told the movie in his usual entertaining way. Cinematography by Bharani K Dharani is inconsistent. Music is big minus. Only two songs – Seenu Seenu and Kanya Raasi are good.

Bottom line..

Dubai Seenu is not full-meals of entertainment but some times limited meals is okay for our appetite. It is a time-pass movie. Though second half is a bit lengthy and the climax is not that impressive, yet it entertains. On the whole, an average film.
