Actor Mohit Ahlawat seems to have rediscovered his place in Bollywood after leaving mentor Ram Gopal Varma's camp. He's gone ahead and signed a film with leading star Aamir Khan.

The film, which is yet to be titled, is a Hindi remake of Tamil blockbuster Gajini that starred actors Surya and Asin.

While Asin will play her role from the original in Hindi, Aamir will play Surya's character. Mohit has been signed on to play the pivotal role of a cop.

Ironically, he played a police officer in Varma's "Shiva", the film that saw the end of his association with Varma's company.

Mohit said: "Yes, I've been signed for the Hindi remake of 'Gajini'. A.R. Murugadas, who directed the Tamil original, will direct it. For me the biggest thrill of doing this film is that I'll be working with Aamir."

The upcoming actor hopes the new film will end the dry spell in his career.

"I could've signed a dozen films after I left Ramuji. But I didn't want to make any wrong moves. Now I think I'm making all the right moves," Mohit said.
