I do not want to play a bimbette

NauheedActor Nauhid Cyrusi, who had earlier appeared in films ‘Supari’ and ‘Lakeer’, recently resurfaced in the sensitive film ‘Anwar’. Though the film didn’t make waves, its music did and Nauhid was noticed in the ‘Maula mere’ number. Now, Nauhid will be seen in Vikram Bhatt’s ‘Life Mein Kabhie Kabhie’.

“Though ‘Anwar’ was not a commercial success, I’m proud of it,” says Nauhid, who has great expectations from her role of Monica, a fame-crazy girl, in ‘Life…’. It was challenging to play a character that I do not identify with at all. Basically, I’m not an ambitious person like Monica. Going to the extent that she does to attain fame, is something that I can never dream of. I do want fame and success but not at the cost of my conscience,” says Nauhid firmly.

Now, Nauhid plans to opt for roles that will showcase her as an actor, rather than as a glam-doll. “I’m not averse to doing glamorous roles, but I do not want to play a bimbette. I’d love to do roles like Ayesha Takia and Gul Panag did in ‘Dor’. I’m also dying to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. I now want to be known as an actor and not as a star.”

Nauhid is also doing comedies like ‘Rafoo Chakkar’ and ‘Sirf’. “I want to experiment with different genres and hence grabbed ‘Rafoo Chakkar’. As for ‘Sirf’, it is a youthful film, with doses of laughter. I’m happy to be doing such different projects,” ends Nauhid.
